Police at Dunkwa in the Central Region have apprehended one member of a gang of four robbers who shot a 29-year-old Chinese national at Nyinawusu.
The Chinese miner died instantly when the gang attacked the mining site.
Dunkwa District Police Commander Superintendent Dela Dzansi, who confirmed the arrest, explained that on August 6, police received a report around 17:30 GMT that “four masked armed robbers had besieged and attacked mine workers at a site belonging to one Patrick Gyan, a resident of Nkutunsu”.
He stated that police found one Chinese shot dead. Upon investigation, it was discovered that the robbers killed the Chinese and made away with the ore containing gold from the location.
Police later traced and arrested one member of the suspected gang who is currently helping in investigations.
