The Committee of Eminent Chiefs set to find lasting solution to the protracted Dagbon chieftaincy crisis led by Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, insist that the funeral of Yaa-Naa Yakubu Andani will continue despite Thursday’s violence in Yendi.
Some groups allegedly belonging to the Andanis and Abudus clashed in Yendi Thursday, leaving 17 with varying degrees of injury.
The violence which included sporadic gunshots, started in the afternoon at the time the Andanis were getting ready to begin the funeral rites; threatening the peace and security in the area.
Reports afterwards indicated that the funeral had been put on hold indefinitely.
But a statement from the office of the Asantehene said the funeral rites will continue as planned.
