President Nana Akufo-Addo has strongly condemned the practice of open defecation across the country which he said undermines sanitation improvement efforts by the government.
He bemoaned that “It is unfortunate that in 2019, we will still have to revisit this topic” – adding that “Enfata yen, Esaa w)” - to wit, it’s does not befit us.
Delivering his third state of the nation address to Parliament on Thursday, 21 February 2019, the president charged Ghanaians to desist from the practice.
“Open defecation cannot be a characteristic of the country that is working to be transformed economically and to be counted among the developed nations of the world,” adding that it is imperative that every household gets a proper place of convenience.
