The Sudanese ambassador to the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Mr. Nader Basher has said that the government of Ghana under the stewardship of His Excellency President Atta Mills has been able to engender new impetus in the relationship between the people of Sudan and Ghana.
He said the current level of relationship between the two nations is unprecedented and, as such, is very encouraging even though the government of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) is barely a year in office. The Ambassador was particularly happy about the visit of the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dr. Mohammed Mumuni to Darfur where he made independent assessment of the situation. Mr. Nader indicated that there has never been any visitation from individual member nations of the Africa Union to Dar-fur. This is the only time we have had a high profile personality in the capacity as foreign minister to have paid a visit to the Dar-fur, he stated.
He noted that Ghanas foreign ministers visit was very much appreciated by the people and the unity Government of Sudan. Mr. Nader also noted that the presence off the Minister in Darfur brought a sense of hope, confidence and above all a compelling responsibility on the government of Sudan including the warring factions to endeavour to achieve comprehensive lasting peace.
