About 35 Chinese nationals have been repatriated for their involvement in illegal mining in Ghana, Citi News investigations reveal.
The repatriated Chinese were part of several Chinese nationals who were arrested across the country for engaging in illegal mining popularly known as galamsey.
More of such Chinese nationals are on the repatriation list of the Ghana Immigration Service (GIS). Officials of the GIS told Citi News on condition of anonymity that the move is to discourage the Chinese from mining without the appropriate approval from relevant authorities.
GIS officials have refused to comment on the issue due to its sensitivity.
