Midland Saving and Loans has disclosed the company is engaged with the nursing mother who was brutalized by a police officer at the company’s headquarters to make sure she is appropriately compensated.
A video emerged on social media Friday, showing a policeman beating up a woman who carried a baby at the premises of the headquarters of Midland Savings and Loans at Shiashe in Accra.
Even though reports are still sketchy as to what caused the police officer to beat up the woman, unconfirmed reports gathered so far suggest the nursing mother got into the banking hall few minutes after the bank had closed and was asked to leave the hall.
She reportedly insisted on taking an amount of 250 cedis from the savings and loans company but the police officer was asked to get her out.
The company has admitted the issue was not handled properly and has since issued an apology to the assaulted customer and the general public.
Police officers visited the headquarters of the company to assess the situation
But Public Relations and Marketing Manager of the company, George Paa Kow Hagan, told 3news the company is doing more in the background.
“More importantly you need to know we are engaged with the customer concerned to make sure that she receives full compensation, full attention and full apology from the company”, he said. He also disclosed that the company has taken some internal disciplinary actions against workers who have been involved and that they risk being dismissed if they are found guilty in the issue.
He added the company will not cover up anybody.
Meanwhile, media reports have it that the police officer whose name is given as Frederick Amanor Skalla is in the grips of the police pending prosecution.

A barbaric act committed at not an ordinary branch but the headquarters of Midland Savings and loans. Thanks to whoever recorded and shared this video on social media. The general public should be encouraged to record such acts of injustice for the public to know and justice to be granted to victims. FIDA or a good humans rights lawyer should step in and fight for the rights and full compensation for the woman and her child who was a witness to a traumatic event. I believe that the compensation should be such that this woman's torture turns into the biggest opportunity in her life such that she will never have to toil going to save with a heartless institution. The husband (father of the child if a responsible one) should take a serious interest in this issue in the interest of mother and child. He must sue Midland and the Police service. The bank must be prevented from doing a cover up piecemeal cosmetic deal with the woman. All the employees who were witnesses to the incident but refused to intervene should be severely sanctioned by the bank. The woman and child must be provided with some form of security immediately as she could be targetted by sympathisers of Midland or the Police. The investigators must watch the CCTV camera footage of the facility. They should also investigate how much of such brutalities have occurred and not reported.
No wonder that i have vowed and as a personal principle decided not to bank with any financial institution that i am older than. Just listen to urself as the PRO of the what name u call ur financial institution. i am so upset . I will personally lobby for the total closure of ur bank. a bank indeed! metcheeeeewww
I want to ask police man as he have a wife or Girlfreind He us an rubber police tweaaaa ***barred word***
Well I thank God I have no accounts with that bank. I will never open an account in such place.During the incident, nobody even bothered to stop the police man. The ***barred word*** man in pink rather came to pick the child so the police man could beat up the woman, what prevented him from stopping the police man instead? hmmm so pathetic. Everyone in that scene never felt anything for the woman and I know very well that the Bank officials were fully aware of what ever that was going on..This is a lesson to other banks, mind how your security treat customers.
Eiiiii Midland mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
I suggest the lady gets a competent lawyer to handle this case for her to get proper compensation than to allow Midland to decide on what they are going to give her. I wonder the kind of customer service training that is given the workers in the first place because the police officer will definitely act on their dictates.
Gross negligence of human lives. God forbid if a life had been lost who would you have compensated, the family? To what benefit or whose benefit? People behave as if they are not dealing with human beings. This is not to say others are not human but what would it have taken just to give her her money? She's a nursing mother for goodness sake. She might have needed the money for her child. I would pursue the case to the max. No less.
There's no need compensating her. The courts will force you to do that. A very wick.ed team of staff working at Midland, did nothing to protect the woman. My do.g won't even bank with them. They should to go hel.l
Compensate with what? Petty 250 you were struggling tossing this woman up and down for a week. This bank must fold up by end of the month July.
Let not over chastise the company, bit let follow the up to make sure the Woman receive justice due her.
