Former Member of Parliament for Mfantseman East Constituency, Hon. Kuntu Blankson, has taken a slight jab at former President Kufour, for his open comment on how President Mahama and his team of ministers should handle the incessant labour actions that has rocked the nation in recent times and caused major discomfort for most Ghanaians.
Hon. Kuntu Blankson was of a firm opinion that as statesman and former President of Ghana, Kufour should be a fatherly figure and be mindful of issues he can spew in public.
He indicted him of wrong doing and pointed out that his open criticism of government is equal to engaging himself in active politics.
if former President Kufour thinks certain things went wrong in the way issues have been handled, he could have gone to the President and drawn his attention that my son, this isnt the way to go about it.
"If he(President Mahama) refuses to listen, I would have no problem if ex-president Kufour comes out and speak like he did, he observed.
Former President Kufour, in an interview on Peace FM, took time to explain how his administration carpet strike actions under the carpet and made sure they worked around the problem to ensure it never exploded like what the nation is currently experiencing.
Dr. Kufour, is on record to have mentioned that if President Mahama is to instill truth in his functionaries, he is optimistic the current administration would encounter minimal strike actions.
However, the former Majority Whip told Peacefmonline.com that he finds it hard to understand ex-president Kufour if he wants to relate the events during his tenure to that of now.
He explained that the economy as it stands now is far different from President Kufour who forced the nation into HIPC.
Hon. Kuntu Blankson revealed that his background checks teaches him that President Mahama consults all the former presidents in Ghana when he encounters difficulties and this should have informed ex-president Kufour to tone down a bit in his submission.
I think as statesman and a former president of this republic, it is uncalled-for...it is wrong he was in public to grant that interview. I think when this government came into being; it has used all the former presidents as a base or source of inspiration and do consult them for advice, he said.
