The immediate past Municipal Chief Executive Officer of the Ejisu-Juaben Municipal Assembly in Ashanti, Mr Afrifa Yamoah-Ponkoh, has been rejected again by Assembly Members for his second four-year term.
After voting under tight security on Tuesday morning, Mr Yamoah-Ponkoh polled 38 yes votes as against 30 no votes. He needed 46 votes to have been confirmed as MCE.
The Presiding Member would now have to announce a new date within 10 days for members of the Assembly to vote again.
Mr Yamoah-Ponkoh was initially nominated by the President last year after he finished serving his first four-year term but was rejected by the Assembly Members on two occasions through voting.
Last month the President re-nominated him and Tuesday and today the Assembly Members voted to reject him.
Speaking to journalists, he blamed his loss on the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), adding that he may decline the appointment and ask the President to utilise him in other capacities for the 2016 campaign.
