The UK/Ireland Chapter of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) is presently in turmoil over a women organizer position in the party.
This follows an attempt by some party gurus to prevent one Sumanya Ligbi, from contesting for the position.
According to reports, even though Sumanya qualified to contest in the polls, the party strangely blocked her from the elections, paving the way for her only opponent, Louisa Nelson, the incumbent NDC Women Organizer for UK/Ireland chapter, to go unopposed.
Supporters of Sumanya have accused National Organizer, Kofi Adams, of instigating the ‘diabolic’ plot.
Sumanya’s supporters, who spoke to THE PUBLISHER from their London base, have threatened to leave the party if their ‘idol’ was not allowed to take part in the upcoming polls.
They alleged that Kofi Adams last week stormed London, and declared that only people that had served the party at the constituency level qualified for the election.
The aggrieved members said they were not aware of any such rule. According to them, Kofi Adams was in the company of Dr. Karl Arhin, the NDC deputy Director of International Relations, when he announced the new rule.
They have consequently threatened to leave the NDC if the party leadership, unjustifiably prevents Sumanya from taking part in the polls, slated for later this year.
