National Democratic Congress [NDC] Member of Parliament [MP] for Lower Manya Constituency in the Eastern Region, Ebenezer Okletey Terlabi says the country’s educational system will face serious problems in future if we keep politicizing educational issues.
“Education in Ghana has been over politicized to the extent that politicians in power want to find a nice way of fixing their party men in school positions whiles in power. This is wrong and should never be encouraged,” he lamented.
Commenting about the recent anarchy at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology [KNUST], the MP called on politicians to be very circumspect about educational matters as it is the greatest tool of development for any state.
Speaking as a panelist on UTV’s ‘Adekye Nsroma’ programme, Terlabi said the President acted wrongly by asking the Vice Chancellor to step aside pending the investigation and creation of an Interim council to resolve the issue at hand.
“NPP should stay out of academic institutions for they have their own mandate to manage themselves,” he angrily said.
