A member of the Communication team of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) is urging Parliament to throw out some of the proposals presented by the Finance Minister, Ken Ofori-Atta on Monday.
Finance Minister, Ken Ofori-Atta presented some proposals to Parliament which was contained in the mid-year budget review, yesterday (Monday). These proposals include the increment of taxes including the Communication Service Tax (talk tax).
The 'talk tax' as some call it has been increased to nine(9) percent from an initial six(6) percent.
Reacting to this during a panel discussion on Peace FM's morning show 'Kokrokoo', Brogya Genfi asked the legislature to shoot down the increments as it will bring more hardship on Ghanaians.
"I will plead with our Members of Parliament; there are certain proposals in this budget that should not be accepted; because if they do, it will inflict more hardship on Ghanaians. You are our representatives . . . we don't expect Parliament to endorse some of the proposals that have been laid before them," he indicated.
