Former President John Dramani Mahama has fired back at President Akufo-Addo following the latter's comments that he (John Mahama), will destroy the good things his government has done should Ghanaians entrust the reins of power in Mahama's hands again.
President Akufo Addo, while on a visit to the Wa Naa’s palace requested that, former President John Mahama does not fit to be his successor because he has defeated him twice in two separate elections.
The President, in an address to supporters of the New Patriotic Party during a mini rally at Doboro in the Greater Accra region said that Mr. Mahama would destroy his legacies should he become the next President, hence he should not be voted for in the upcoming December 2024 general elections.
Encouraging the people who were not able to register during the last registration exercise in 2020, Nana Akufo said, “The registration has started, I urge all persons yet to register to do so, your vote is your power.
“I can’t hand over to someone I defeated twice and is not happy with everything I do, he will destroy the work that I have done.
“Vote for Dr Bawumia, I have worked with him for the past seven and a half years, I have confidence in him, I know he can continue the good work,” he said.
Reacting to Akufo Addo’s comments, Mr. Mahama in a post on his X platform on Wednesday May 8, stated “Of course, I will not protect your ‘legacy’ of corruption, misgovernance, arrogance, ineptitude, bankrupt economy, increased unemployment, and pushing more of our people into the poverty bracket’’.
Earlier, John Mahama had sent a reply when the President first made the statement, stating that, the people of Ghana have the right to decide twho becomes the President, adding that, above all, it is the almighty God who enthrones Kings.

@***barred word*** NPP N NDC: You are right. But the issue here is that, the youth who are suffering and supposed to come together to fight these corrupt ndc n npp are very stuppppid.. What ghana needs now is a military ruler with just common sense to resett the system, change the constitution, have a blue print of national development plan entrenched in new constitution b4 handover to civilian rule. Unfortunately it does appears all the "jj rawlings'" are finished in the Burma camp. What is left is bunch of cowards also eating from the tables of these corrupt politicians. The French soldiers will not tolerate this.
Two use less monkeys!!!!!. I CALL FOR A BLOODLESS COUP!
JM got 4 years 6months to become President. The constitutions stipulates the maximum one could be as a President is 8years. If he wins (may the heavens forbid! As God lives!) will he rule for 3 years and 6months? Or 4 years? That would be his second coup oo. Would that not be like to an over throw of the constitution? Would that not lead to constitutional crisis? The lawyers so take this to the Supreme Court for a proper interpretation of stipulated articles to strengthen or deepened our democratic credentials. Meanwhile Ghanaians don’t need a History degree holder ne English professor . How would they understand and negotiate complex deals in A.I dominated world economy?
Which legacy is the dwarf talking about at all?? Ghanaians will remember you of the current hardship and poverty. A liter of petrol is ghs15+.. Dollar is ghs14+.. It's only the foooouuls in ghana who will vote NPP come Dec.2024
Mahama is unmatched and in different league if it comes to corruption. He should stop his comparisons as it is damaging to him and NDC. He must talk about what he will do if voted. It is not possible for him to win this election if he talks about corruption although it is a major issue. However, his record and involvement in corruption makes him unqualified to speak on this subject. He is very corrupt, hands down and all Ghanaians know it.
@away with this and that, kwesi, Kwame, of course we are at the ICU as a nation. Nana Addo, Bawumia and the NPP have made excessive noise about JM taking or facilitating bribe for 16 solid years including 8 years of them being at the helm of affairs where they have every power to deal with anyone who has set us back as country. They haven't been able to do anything about it, and they are still hear crying about it like babies, that's the height of idioc.y and I am not mincing words. Of course, it's obvious that they are all fabricated lies against the person of JM just to win them power and because they're naturally incapable of advancing in brain activities, they still think that strategy will keep them in power. Of course, it's also obvious that Nana Addo and his Bawumia are a 100% times worse than whatever they said about JM. If we are correct as a people, how can we not see the depth of retrogression that Nana Addo and Bawumia have set us in? How can any sane person at this point still consider Bawumia for president? Even in his party, Bawumia had to bribe delegates with our money to become a president, otherwise it was impossible for him to be the flagbearer, and you think that's not corruption and a national crime?
Corruption Mahama. Nobody listen to you. John Mahama you are very corruption man
Why? Has Akuffo Addo bought airbus, received ford from a foreign contractor? Mahama does not know shame. Disgracing in the country at international level? Which president has been asked by foreign media whether he is corrupt? T H I E F.
@Ernest & co , I wonder why a vice president who can help his brother to forge and got Ghanaian citizenship for them to dupe Ghanaians , the infamous”air bus scandal’ and you guys want him to come back to the Jubilee house because of partisan politics. A vice president whose own president was about to set a committee to look into why and how the huge cost of buying aeroplanes and hangars. Of course, we are not serious in this country.
Mahama has given him the right answer. Akufo Addo is the butterfly that thinks himself a bird. He thinks we are so st.upid that we aren't aware of the evil that he has done to our country
