Hiplife artiste Kontihene has quit his church of ten years because they criticised the dressing of a visitor.
The artiste said he was not amused by the action of the church after they insisted on moving the new member to the back or even ask her to leave the premises based on her dressing.
Although he won’t mention the name of the church, the ‘Asesa’ hit rapper revealed in an interview on Joy FM that he felt the decision was wrong judgement on the part of the church.
“The church was trying to play God. I invited someone to church and they wanted the person to get out of the church because the person wasn’t well dressed,” he explained. “The person has strong legs and the person was wearing something that the legs were showing,” a not too happy Kontihene added.
Narrating further what transpired, he said, “They were saying the person cannot sit there, the person has to go back. I was like the person came here to communicate with God in her heart, I mean we are not here for fashion or anything.”
According to the rapper, some persons in the church “insisted, they kept pushing it and I told the person, 'let’s get out of this place because God is not here, its people who are just judging by what they see.'”
Asked how long he had been worshipping with the church, Kontihene revealed that “I’ve been going there for the past ten years but I walked off on [Sunday].”

How many people in the so called churches could stand right before God should God appear in their service? Hypocrisy at its best especially with churches in Ghana. If the person was perfect she wouldn't need God or endeavour to hear about God hence coming to church. Even Jesus the son of God did not asked others to leave because they were perceived not to be perfect. Paul said to the Jews I became a Jew. What do you understand by that? The mentality of the church these days all about money and speaking of enticing words of human wisdom. If the church was focused about soul winning they would have behaved as Spirit Filled Church. Carnality is the order of the day. How could you encourage others into love and good works if you behave this way? Would Jesus do same if he was in charge of that church? The only you guys can have a clean church locking the door and all staying outside including the pastor. That's the only time the church become clean.
i think that Christians must be very careful in handling such situations. i remember my formal church at Akim Oda, a lady visited our church on Wednesday service and the dressing was bad, but no one talked about it but she, herself realized the dressing was not good and the next visit which was Sunday to our surprise the dressing was good. So please let us handle people well it does not who the person is i believe Holy Spirit is a perfect God who will change her. thanks
so because the person is going to worship God from the heart and so she can just wear anything to the place of worship apuuu, who even care if you quit church each one for himself God for us all.
I get what kontihene is saying. It had to be said, some Christians/ church don't handle sensitive issues like this the wrong way. Yes kontihene is a Christian alright but the person he invited may not be a Christian. That's when the true love of Christ has to be demonstrated to this individual. Who knows what the Lord has in store for this person? Who knows what the Lord can use this person for in His ministry? These issues have to be dealt with carefully before some cynical Christians become hindrances to someone's day of salvation. It's the word of God that changes a person not criticisms and cynicisms. We've all been there where we went to the Lord just as we were and He changed us for all to see to His glory. No wonder churches are nowadays filled with pretentious Christians who get up to all despicable sorts. The leaders in the church should address and teach the body of Christ how to handle these issues. I would understand when a supposed Christian still dress anyhow after yrs in the church. But in this case, it's different and should have been handled with much tact. Kontihene, bruv, don't give up on your faith cos of this;well I hope that's not the case. U may see and hear a lot of things in the church believe u me, but don't let them affect u. May the Lord have mercy.
you Quits Church in so what...... you think you are doing someone.is your life. when you young guys get small money and small name you think the whole earth is yours.
10yrs with the church and u r not aware of such a policy in the church? come again Kontihene. what is wrong for the person to sit at the back? You rightly said the person has strong legs and she exposed it... hahahahaha. Do u want the Pastor to flee the church? lool. please do not quit church cos of that. get back and advance your argument for a possible revision of the policy. Help build the church than leave.
