Maurice Ampaw has given his two cents on the raging issue of tv licence and you can always trust him to bring some comedy to a serious situation.
According to the lawyer, it’s only foolish people who would decide not to pay the tv licence fee and instead, have themselves brought before court to face a fine and possible jail time.
Speaking with a radio station in Kumasi, Ampaw said it would be far easier for Ghanaians to pay the fee and be free than to be hauled before court which would bring more expenses.
“You can’t argue in the law court that, GTV has not been offering you what you like so there is no reason to pay TV license. Therefore instead of paying a small amount why do you prefer to pay more when being sent to court?” He said.
“Even the transportation involved in attending court sessions alone can pay what you refused to”.
The tv licence issue has been ignited after the Chief Justice empaneled 10 courts to deal with people who fail to pay the fees. Musician/Comedian A Plus, a strong NPP supporter, has called the move a wrong one and vowed never to pay his tv licence fee.

It’s disappointing to hear people of your stature talk like this. Be that as it may, let us remain ***barred word*** because I won’t pay money to watch your kind. Secondly, what exactly is the content that GTV has showed and continue to show? It’s a shame if in deed you called anyone with dissenting views on the matter a ***barred word***.
If majority of Ghanaians think the TV licence levy is not vital what stops them from asking their MP's to amend or abolish that law. Don't blame the law and its implementer, just blame your MP.
This issue of TV license is I believable. The owner of the TV paid tax upon purchase of the tv. The electricity to connect the tele already has tariffs on it. The TV owner and his family are fully consumed by taxes. What else are we left with. They should rather get serious with licensing of food vendors to prevent people from selling on smelly gutters and not licensing of TV watchers
It is only a f0.0l who will pay TV licence money to be chopped by others without benefiting from it..... Private TV stations rely on adverts to survive GBC must do same. I will not pay.... The govt must start building prisons now to accommodate those who will not pay bcos I know a lot of people who will not pay the TV licence fee.
Who made that law...tell Ghanaians!!!
