A communication team member of the ruling National Democratic Congress [NDC], Alhaji Mohammed Naziru has said that, the opposition New Patriotic Party [NPP] is frightened with the inclusion of Dr. Ekwow Spio-Garbrah in the Mahama-led administration. According to him, knowing very well how strategic newly appointed Minister for Trade and Industry is in politics, some leadership of the NPP have started raising concerns of how Dr. Ekwow Spio-Garbrah belittled the NDC ministerial appointments some years back. It would be recalled that Dr. Spio-Garbrah in 2009 was purported to have attacked the late President Atta Mills for appointing �Team B� Ministers who were responsible for the slow running of the economy, while �Team A� materials were at the touchline ready to help accelerate the pace of development. According to him, most of the ministers were not appointed on the �basis of merit but by virtue of proximity to power, feigned loyalty, financial considerations and other factors.� The former Chief Executive Officer [CEO] of the prestigious Commonwealth Telecommunications Organization [CTO], who served under the Rawlings administration as the Minister for Communications as well as Education, is perceived by foes within the ruling party as a firebrand but with some arrogant streak, a character trait that always agitated the political players on both sides. However, some members of the NDC have expressed worry at President Mahama�s inclusion of Dr. Spio-Garbrah and want him kicked out, but Alhaji Naziru believes the NPP is the brain behind that agenda. In an interview with Peacefmonlione.com, the aspiring national Propaganda Secretary of the NDC described as �unfortunate� claims that Dr. Ekwow Spio-Garbrah insulted the NDC when he was sidelined by the party. To him, �The NPP is doing whatever it takes to distract Dr. Ekwow Spio-Garbrah because they know how effective he is in politics. Spio-Garbrah�s appointment is sending shivers down the spine of NPP�.
