K Agyapong: Im Not InfallibleBut I Dare Anyone To Point Out My Wrongdoings

The General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Kwabena Agyapong, says so long as he is human, his fallible but has however dared anyone to point out any grave gaffe he has committed since he became the Chief Scribe of the elephant party. Absolving himself from accusations of running a "one-man show", Kwabena Agyapong, speaking on Peace FM's flagship programme "Kokrokoo", labeled himself a unifier in the NPP, stressing that his actions are not meant to disintegrate the party but rather to ensure sanity prevails in the party. According to him, though he is not "an Angel" to say he is without any fault, he has however presented himself as a "sacrificial lamb", poised to unite the NPP. The whole partys Communications resources over the last weekend have been mobilized to attack the head of the partys National Secretariat when you are supposed to work to me. You report to meI feel that we should put things in the right order. Lets tell the truth. Im not an Angel. Every human has faults but I dare anyone to point out my wrongdoings since I became the General SecretaryLets love one another and eliminate any enmity in the partyPeople should stop stripping the party of its assets, he said. Angry NPP activists stormed the partys headquarters wielding machetes and marred a press conference being held by the National Chairman, Paul Afoko and General Secretary. They accused the two executives of taking unilateral decisions that will not inure to the benefit of the party in their bid to restructure affairs at the headquarters. Their chaotic action was in reaction to the proceed on leave directive given to Deputy Communications Director Perry Okudzeto (who was acting as Communications Director of the party) by Kwabena Agyapong. The latter subsequently appointed new Deputy Diectors of Communication for the party without consulting the National Executive Committee (NEC) and the Steering Committee of the NPP; thus further incurring the wrath of some stalwarts. But speaking to host Kwami Sefa Kayi, the NPP Chief Scribe assured party faithfuls that the executives only want transparency of financial accounts and it is in this light that some structural changes have been taken at the headquarters. He said the new leadership will not sit by for the party to run aground. I am sacrificing for this party. When I offend you and you address it; I will render an apology. When I offend someone and it is important to mete out punitive measures to me, I will avail myself for my punishment. I pray God to give me courage, direction, boldness and also help me. What we did yesterday (on Tuesday) was right. We needed to assert our authority as enshrined in the partys constitution, he stressed. The embattled General Secretary also outlined some inappropriate actions that have since taken place in the NPP and which came to the fore after the new leadership assumed office. He disclosed that about 75 vehicles which were used for campaigning prior to the 2012 elections and a generator have all been missing from the Head Quarters. should there not be any transparency in our financial procedures? Should there not be, as a party that intends to run the government? Shouldnt charity begin at home? he queried.
