Editor-in-Chief of the New Crusading Guide, Abdul Malik Kweku Baako, has called for a probe into the near-chaotic incident that was recorded at the headquarters of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) on Tuesday. Kweku Baako called on the appropriate authorities and the security services in the nation to hunt down the armed men who took the law into their own hands and vandalized properties at a press conference organized by the NPP�s National Chairman, Paul Afoko and General Secretary, Kwabena Agyapong. According to him, the actions by the party's supporters debased the integrity of the NPP. �It�s a shame. It�s an exercise in self-indictment, causing collateral damage to the party�s image and your opponents are at liberty to use it anyhow,� he said. He wondered how and why the internal strife and infighting in the party could suddenly degenerate into a near-bloodbath. The opposition party�s headquarters was the scene of mayhem, after machete-wielding activists invaded the premises to disrupt the news conference. Personnel from the Police service had to intervene to restore law and order. Speaking on Peace FM's Morning Show "Kokrokoo", the seasoned journalist condemned the incident and insisted that the thugs who caused the commotion at the headquarters and the vehicle that conveyed the enraged supporters to the party's premises should be investigated and appropriate sanctions meted out. To him, the incident should not be dismissed nor treated as a "party affair" because "the security scare or chaos that occurred is a matter of public interest. It goes beyond the party. It should be properly investigated; all those who came there. Fortunately, there are people with video clips and the car has a number. They should investigate. �They should find out who owns the car. Who brought it there; for what purpose? The other gentlemen who came in there, who were they? Where did they come from? Who asked them to come there? It�s of public interest. It goes beyond the party. I support the idea that it should be properly investigated. The party should not be allowed to say this is an internal affair.�
