Why Perry Okudjeto Was Asked To Proceed On Leave - Kwabena Agyapong Explains

Perry Okudzeto, the acting Director of Communications of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), was asked to proceed on leave starting August 18th 2014, a few days back. A statement signed by Mr Kwabena Agyepong, General Secretary of the NPP indicated: You have accumulated leave for 4 years but we are able to grant you two years leave and this translates into 40 working days. The General Secretary also directed Mr Okudzeto to prepare his handover notes and submit them to the acting Director of Finance and Administration by the close of August 15, 2014. Following the directive, the media sought to find out from Perry what he thought could be the underlying reason for this action and since it is only in military regimes that people are oftentimes forced to go on leave without any explanation. Speaking to Kwami Sefa Kayi in an interview on Wednesdays edition of Kokrokoo, Kwabena Agyepong justified the decision to ask Mr Okudzeto to proceed on leave and explained the Acting Communications Director had failed to put his house in order. According to him, there were executives working under the command of Perry and those executives on most occasions went to town slandering the Chairman of the NPP, Paul Afoko and himself (Kwabena); without any disciplinary action from Perry. There are people with the media monitoring team who are being paid monthly and instead of propagating the agenda of the party, they rather insult the party General Secretary and Chairman and they were working under Perry Okudzeto. He was responsible for their conduct and he needed as the acting director to put them in order but he didnt. They were using party resources to verbally abuse us and campaign for candidates of their choice. I called him (Perry) on several occasions to complain to him so that he will do the right thing but nothing was done about it and so I spoke with the party Chairman and we decided to reorganise the secretariat, Kwabena Agyapong indicated.
