General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in a one-hour interview with Kwami Sefa Kayi on Peace FM's "Kokrokoo" has asked members of the NPP not to be too worried because the party is not going to breakup. His comment comes on the back of rising tension in the party after the newly elected executives headed by Mr Paul Afoko assumed office. Things took a different turn when the police averted a near bloody clash at the party�s headquarters on Tuesday, 19th August, 2014. Armed men with machetes flooded the NPP headquarters bringing to a halt a press briefing organised being by Mr Paul Afoko and Mr Kwabena Agyepong. The press conference was to clarify the air on furore surrounding the two-year leave handed to the acting Director of Communications, Perry Okudzeto. Mr. Agyapong has come under severe criticism after he asked Deputy Communications Director Perry Okudzeto (who was acting as Communications Director of the party) to proceed on leave. He subsequently appointed new Deputy Diectors of Communication for the party without consulting the National Executive Committee (NEC) and the Steering Committee of the NPP.
