Impending Congress: Prospective Losers Must Give Up - Isaac Osei Proposes

A former flagbearer hopeful of the opposition NPP, Isaac Osei Anim is proposing that the aspirant who receives the highest endorsement in the upcoming special delegates conference should be given the nod by the other candidates to automatically lead the party in the 2016 elections. He believes this can save the party a lot of time and resources which can be channeled into the main party campaign for the 2016 elections instead of it being spent on holding another congress in October after the pruning of the list to five (5). The party has slated August 31 for their special delegates to prune the number of aspirants vying for the partys flagbearership slot. There are seven aspirants contesting in the race, but the partys constitution can only permit five. The Subin Member of Parliament in an interview with Moro Awudu, The XYZ Breakfast Show host today intimated that the overwhelming support that a candidate will get in the delegates' conference should send a signal to the other candidates whos likely to win the flagbearer primaries. He's therefore requesting that the rest of the aspirants rally round the winner with the highest endorsement in the up-coming delegates' conference and canvass for votes in their various constituencies to ensure victory for the party. He said, It should be possible for the aspirants to wholeheartedly support the aspirant who receives the highest endorsement in the upcoming special delegates conference and go to their various constituencies to campaign for him to ensure victory for the party in 2016. However, in the event that after the four (4) candidates who follow the aspirant with the highest endorsement are not willing to back down, per the constitution, they are at liberty to give it another shot in October. The NPP's preparations to elect a flagbearer have been distracted by recent developments within the party and this has resulted in top officials as well as well wishers calling for calm to be restored with less than two (2) weeks to go for its delegates congress.
