Egbert Faibille, Ken Kuranchi Joins NPP Parliamentary Race

Credible information picked-up in the Greater Accra Region of New Patriotic Party (NPP) by 'The Herald' newspaper can confirm that Managing Editor of the Accra- based newspaper, The Daily Searchlight, Mr Ken Kuranchie and Lawyer Egbert Faibile, are lacing their political boots to contest the Okaikoi North and Weja-Gbawe Constituency seats in the region. The information said that Mr Kuranchie�s decision to contest the seat, arose out of the decision by the sitting Member of Parliament (MP) for Okaikoi North Constituency, Madam Elizabeth Sackey, to shelve her decision to run for the third time. The information said in view of this, the Managing Editor of Daily Searchlight, who was jailed by the Supreme Court, presided over by Justice, William Atugubah for contempt during the hearing of the Election Petition, brought before it by Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo, the twice defeated NPP presidential candidate, his running mate, Dr Mahamadu Bawumia and Jake Obestebi-Lamptey, ex National Chairman of the party. Mr Kuranchie and Steven Atubigah, a National Democratic Congress (NDC), sympathizer were jailed for ten and three days, respectively at the Nsawam Medium Security Prisons in the Eastern Region for showing gross disrespect to the nine -member panel of justices, who heard the 2012 election petition. Mr Koranchie, who formerly had his newspaper office in the Abeka- Lapaz area and later moved it to the Pig Farm area, has moved his office to Achimota in the Okaikoi North Constituency to enable him annexed the party�s primary. Meanwhile,Mr Egbert Faibille, the Managing Editor of the Ghanaian Observer newspaper at large, a lawyer by profession was formerly working at the law office of Yoni Kulendi, one of the leading law offices in the country left at the beginning of last year to set up his own law office in Adabraka near Dan Morton Taylors, is also eyeing the Weija -Gbawe Constituency seat. Mr Faibille who lives in the plush West legon (Haatso) area was born in the Weija area and had his immediate family still domicile in the area. The information says the two individuals who are believed to be loyalists of Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo -Addo have begun canvassing for votes by holding series of meeting opinion leaders in both areas to make their dream a reality. As Mr Egbert Faibille is practicing, Mr Kuranchie is currently at the Mount Crest School studying law. Mr Faibille is expected to battle it out with Madam Rose Abra, the current New Patriotic Party (NPP) Member of Parliament (MP) for Weija -Gbawe with Madam Obobia Darko-Opoku , Deputy Executive Director of Free Zones Board (FZB) waiting on the sidelines to be elected on the ticket of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) for the second time to kick start the campaign for the 2016 Parliamentary elections.
