Celebrity Attacks On Govt Influenced By NPP - Yamoah Ponkoh

Municipal Chief Executive for Ejisu Juabeng Municipality in the Ashanti Region, Afrifa Yamoah Ponkor has accused the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) of inciting some Ghanaian celebrities against government.

According to him, the recent attacks on the president by some Ghanaian celebrities were all masterminded by the NPP.

Some Ghanaian celebrities including actresses Yvonne Nelson and Lydia Forson, America-based Ghanaian Movie Producer Leila Dzansi, Comedian DKB among others have openly criticized the Mahama-led government over what they describe as his sluggish approach towards solving the erratic power supply in the country, which is in its fourth year.

The hash tag #Dumsormuststop is also trending on social media platforms.

Some celebrities, led by DKB have further threatened to stage a demonstration to support the campaign against Dumsor.

But Afrifa Yamoah Ponkor says he is surprised about the 'sudden' behavior of some celebrities.

‘Where were these celebrities when the whole nation was subjected to continuous power outages during the Kufour era," he asked?

‘These celebrities are people I respect so much and I wonder why they have allowed themselves to be used by NPP" he stated further.

The MCE urged Ghanaians to stay calm and exercise patience because government is working assiduously to solve the problem.
