Hollywood Actor Boris & Prez Mahama's Pix: Govt Appalled By Comments on Facebook

"Government finds unfortunate the vitriolic, negative comments being put up on the Facebook page of renowned Ghanaian born Hollywood star, Boris Kodjoe, in response to a picture post made by the star in which he commends His Excellency, President John Dramani Mahama, for his good work, particularly for young women.

It is unacceptable for any section of the Ghanaian community to openly ridicule the President of the Republic on such an international platform. Such comments and acts brings the high office of the Presidency into disrepute, and needlessly embarass the nation. No country is perfect and no leader is flawless but this should not provide justification for citizens to wash the dirty linen of the nation in public.

The Government, by this statement calls on all Ghanaians, home or abroad, to immediately desist from posting such comments, and as much as possible, delete such comments if they have already been posted", a statement signed by the Minister of Communications, Dr. Edward Omane Boamah stated.

The statement further called on religious and traditional leaders to actively advice Ghanaian youths and the larger Ghanaian society to show utmost respect to the President and his appointees and not to go wayward from the traditional Ghanaian upbringing.
