Alan Kyerematen Advises "Enemies Of Progress"...

A leading member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Mr Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen, has stated that anyone in the party whose actions and behaviour go contrary to the dictates of the flagbearer, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, is an enemy of progress.

He said the party’s cardinal objective was to win power in 2016 and bring relief to the Ghanaian and that those in the party with different agenda should mend their ways and toe the line of the flag bearer.

Mr Kyerematen, who was speaking on the first day of the three-day “Rise and Build” tour of the Ashanti Region by Nana Addo, surprised the gathering by singing “Aseda Nyinaa Ye Wodze”, which saw the entire membership joining the chorus.

He said although the party had been in opposition for seven years, the enthusiasm and high interest of members in the activities of the party was surprising and encouraging.

He called on party members to work assiduously to consolidate the votes of the party because analysis had indicated that if only NPP members and NDC members alone cast their votes, the NPP would emerge the winners at all times.

Mr Kyerematen said it was for this consolidation that Nana Akufo-Addo had embarked on the Rise and Build tour to consolidate the party votes before embarking on an elaborate campaign afterwards.

Nana Addo

Nana Akufo-Addo who did not wait to be introduced before he took over the lectern, commended members of the party in the region for continuously voting massively for the party since its inception.

He reminded the gathering that just as the Ashanti Region voted for former President J. A. Kufuor with 72 per cent in the first round of 2000 elections and 79.5 per cent in the second round to crown him the President in 2000, he believed he would also be given 80 per cent to crown him as the next President.

NDC one million votes

He described the claim by the NDC that they were working towards attaining one million votes in the Ashanti Region as a fantasy and urged the members of the party in the region to come out in their numbers and vote massively for the party to rubbish the NDC claim and also bring NPP to power.

Nana Akufo-Addo said the target for the NPP was to secure 80 per cent of the popular votes in the region and secure victory for the NPP.

Aspirants

As a show of seriousness, he called out the names Members of Parliament (MPs) who were unseated during the recent primaries and those who won and urged the latter to take personal initiatives in bringing together the MPs who lost and their supporters.

Nana Akufo-Adoo said petty squabbles and little infighting between aspirants and those who lost must not be encouraged to rear their ugly heads.

Campaign

Touching on the campaign, he said the NPP was not embarking on a tribalistic campaign but a national agenda that would bring hope, progress and prosperity to the entire nation which would be executed through a grass root campaign.

Nana Akufo-Addo said by the grace of the almighty God when the NPP was crowned in 2016, it would continue with the vision of its founding fathers and build a new economy that would lift the good people of the country from what he said was the excruciating poverty and unprecedented misery brought on Ghana by what he described as the inept administration of the NDC.
