"Prez Mahama's Visit Is Good For Us" - Ambassador

Mrs Johanna Odonkor Svanikier, Ghana's Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to France, Portugal and United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization, has said President Mahama's visit was good for more investment in Ghana.

She explained that previously France had invested so much in only French West African states and the visit by the President and his discussions with President Francois Hollande would further cement their relations and expand investments in the country.

Mrs Svanikier, who was speaking to the Ghana News Agency in an interview in Bordeaux, said apart from meeting with the President, the Paris and Bordeaux Chambers of Commerce, Ghana had also joined the Francophone, an organisation that would leverage Ghana's engagement with France.

She said their main engagements would be in the areas of agribusiness, and collaborations in the areas of political stability, good governance and democratic consolidation.

The Ambassador said although there were a number of French investors in Ghana, many more would drift to the West African country because of political stability and good business environment Ghana was enjoying.

On her relations with the Ghanaians in France, Mrs Svanikier described it as cordial and friendly and gave the assurance that she would work harder to mend the cracks that had for some time now existed among various groups within the Ghanaian community.

She said although the Ghanaian population in France was growing on daily basis, she would work around the clock to ensure their safety and comfort.

On the relations with UNESCO, the Ambassador said Ghana had good relations with the organization, adding that their cordial relations could further be strengthened in the coming years.
She appealed to Ghanaians living in France and Portugal to be law abiding to maintain the good reputation that the country had built over the years.
