Prez Mahama Scores 4/10 In Prof. Akosas Exams

Former Director-General of the Ghana Health Service, Prof. Agyeman Badu Akosa has described politicians in the country as selfish and power drunk who are not concerned about the welfare of the people who gave them power.

According to him, most politicians get delighted when people beg them for money for food instead of willingly supporting them to resolve their issues.

In an interview on Kasapa on Kasapa, the former flagbearer of the Convention People’s Party said Ghana has deviated from the core essence of contemporary politics, insisting that the country’s own brand of politics is enriching oneself through dubious means.

“I don’t think we are doing politics in Ghana. We have created our own brand of politics which makes us think of how to come into power by all means.

“Politicians in other countries talk about ideas but it is not the same in our country. We make vain promises and even an assemblyman, who is not paid, makes vain promises,” he bemoaned.

He further predicted that most politicians who fail to influence voters with huge sums of money will lose in the 2016 general election.

“Some people are stacking their ‘Ghana must go’ bags for 2016, and those who cannot share will find themselves wanting,” he said.

He mentioned that Ghana has lost its values and her citizens have lost the spirit of patriotism, saying, “we have lost it because leadership has not demonstrated it to us.”

Touching on the performance of the Mahama-led administration, Dr. Akosa expressed his dissatisfaction on how President Mahama has handled issues of the country.

He said the President as a leader has performed below average over the past three years, stating that, “if I am marking the present on a scale of zero to 10, I will give him four.”

According to him, Ghanaians have the right to know whatever goes on in the country, indicating that, the President’s inability to communicate what is really affecting the growth of the country has contributed to his poor performance.

“If things are going on wrong in the country, I expect the President to eyeball the people of Ghana because it is you we voted for. Sit down and speak to the people.

“There must be a sense of urgency and as a president he has not shown that urgency. He should come and be sincere by facing the people and tell them the problem,” he said.
