Pressure is mounting on Cecilia Gyan Amoah, the New Patriotic Party's Parliamentary candidate for Asutifi South constituency in the Brong Ahafo region to step down, four months before the national polls.

According to one Yaw Marfo, a brother of the NPP's Parliamentary candidate's late husband; the family of the candidate has expressed displeasure with her candidature and is calling on her to quit the race.

"Cecilia is wasting her resources to the detriment of our family . . . if you know Collins Dauda very well, you will know that he is mysterious in ways with which he approaches elections. He's dangerous and Cecilia knows he will win."

Mr. Marfo added that Mr Dauda's influence at the constituency is incontestable, so Mrs. Gyan Amoah is only "trading the little family resources we have for a huge debt which we cannot pay even if the entire family is sold."

He went on to reveal that the family had already implored her not to join the race but she did not listen.

"The family will make sure she steps down before something bad happens to her," he stressed.

Cecelia Amoah, a one-time Member of Parliament for the constituency is the main contender for the incumbent legislator who doubles as Minister of Water,Works and Housing.

Prior to the 2000 elections, Professor Amoah, the late husband of madam Cecilia who had returned from Zimbabwe and stood on the ticket of the NPP for the seat, reportedly died mysteriously.

His sudden death resulted in the postponement of the constituency’s elections.

The NPP fielded the deceased’s wife, Cecilia Amoah in his stead.

Meanwhile, all attempts by Peace FM's Brong Ahafo Regional Correspondent, Emmanuel Henryson Okrah to get Mrs. Cecilia Amoah to render her account have failed.
