Let's Stand In Solidarity With Isreal - MP Calls On Ghanaians

The Member of Parliament for the Assin South constituency of the Central Region, Hon. Rev Ntim Fordjour, has called on Ghanaians to stand in solidarity with the good people of Israel whom he said, have become constant target of terrorist attack by Hamas, a terrorist group based in Palestine, which attack, is threatening their very existence as a people.

In a profound commemorative statement he made on the floor of Parliament on Wednesday, July 18, in solidarity with the State of Isreal on the occasion of the country's 70th Anniversary, the Assin South legislator stated that, "a total of 302 rockets and mortars had been fired into Israel from Gaza Strip within the spate of three months, between May 29 and July 17 this year".

In the face of these unwarranted massacres, which he condemned in no uncertain terms, Hon. Ntim Fordjour, who is a member of the Foreign Affairs committee of Parliament, appealed to the international community particularly the UN, AU and Ghana in particular to arise in solidarity with Israel and thus uphold that the good people of Israel also have an inalienable right to exist and to live in peace and harmony.

He also used the occasion to tout Israel's credentials as being renowned in the world for their economic prowess, high technological advancement and agriculture exploits. Aside the US and China, Israel, he said, has the most companies listed on the tech-focused NASDAQ stock exchange. He thus challenged Ghana to learn from the Israelian model. Mr. Fordjour added that Israel also provides home to some of the most prestigious and scared Judaist, Christian and Islamic heritage in the world.

The soft-spoken NPP lawmaker, who describes himself as a friend of Israel, expressed optimism that with the intervention of all relevant stakeholders, the Israel-Palestine conflict will see a lasting solution. He concluded his statement by conveying his sincerest felicitations to the good people of Israel on the occasion of their 70th Anniversary Celebrations and wished them well.
