Plastic Chairs Fly....As Chaos Rock Bukom Boxing Arena After Wasiru Mohammed TKO Isaac Sackey

There was absolute chaos at the Bukom Boxing Arena after Beninois referee, Adom Betin declared Wasiru Mohammed (9-0, 8 KOs) as the controversial winner of the WBO Africa Junior Featherweight Championship over Isaac Sackey (22-1-1, 19 KOs) in round 3 via a Technical knockout (TKO).

The fight which was set up by E&J Promotions at the Bukom Boxing Arena on Saturday ended on a controversial note after the referee, Adom Betin waived off the fight after Wasiru scored a knockdown with a powerful right. The Benin referee did not give Isaac Sackey a timeout but granted an instant closure of the fight.

The referee’s call angered the fans and technical team of Sackey as they jumped into the ring to question the referee. However, their plight was never answered and in return, they met the team of Wasiru Mohammed who engaged them in a huge scuffle in the ring.

Lots of properties including plastic chairs, tables and many others were destroyed along the line.

Many boxing luminaries didn’t agree with the referee’s call but it is unclear whether the fight would be declared a no contest.

Prior to the fight, the two boxers were undefeated but at the end of the day, it was Wasiru who marinated his unblemished record and took the WBO Africa super bantamweight title.

This is the first time in many years since a fight has ended up in a disgraceful manner at the Bukom Boxing Arena.
