Sylvester Mensah Pledges Support For Winner In NDC Presidential Primaries

Mr Sylvester Mensah, a flagbearer hopeful of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), has expressed confidence in winning the race but said in the event that he loses, he would support any candidate who emerges victorious.

"I am confident that Sylvester Mensah will emerge the flagbearer. I will want to ask all members of our Party to rally behind the eventual winner in this contest and let's move into the 2020 elections as one united and strong Party," he said.

Mr Mensah said this on Saturday in an interview with the Ghana News Agency after casting his ballot at the Seashell Polling Station at La, Accra.

A total of 260,000 delegates are expected to vote in the NDC Presidential Primaries.

The seven candidates, aside Mr Mensah, are former President John Dramani Mahama, Mr Joshua Alabi, Mr Ekow Spio Gabrah, Mr Kingsford Bagbin, Mr Goosie Tanoh and Alhaji Iddrisu Nurudeen.

"We expect that the general outcome of this election will reflect the general will of our delegates and the generality of our Party," Mr Mensah said.

"We are voting for a bundle of values, of principles, of attitude, of relationship, of moral leadership; and it is our hope that whoever emerges winner will encapsulate all these values in a way that will serve the interest of our Party and country."
