Despite COCOBOD setting aside 15 million Ghana cedis as seed money for the establishment of a Cocoa Farmers Pension Scheme in 2009, the scheme is yet to take off.
The Minister of Finance and Economic Planning, Dr. Kwabena Duffuor, said this when he briefed Parliament on a wide range of issues under his sector.
He said COCOBOD is currently studying an interim report by a consultant on the scheme.
Dr Duffuor said COCOBOD is also building a database on farmers to facilitate the smooth running of the pension programme.
