Documents in possession of The New Crusading GUIDE have revealed that some Civil and Public Servants were in February this year paid huge sums of money to clear arrears as well as their salaries.
At the summit of this pecking order were Justices of the Supreme Court receiving GHc152, 329.55, with the Appeals Court Judges having Gh 149,391.80 deposited in their accounts closely followed by the Chairman of the Public Service Commission who had Gh 140,905.30.
Although this paper is not privy to how the arrears were calculated, it is widely speculated in the public service that they were paid about twenty months of their arrears at a go.
According to the documents, the current basic salary of all Supreme Court Judges with the exception of the Chief Justice is Gh 11,500. The CJs basic salary now is pegged at Gh11, 979.
The Auditor General, Appeals Court Judges as well as the Chairpersons of the Public Service Commission and the National Commission on Civic Education all have their basic salaries pegged at Gh. 10,861.
Although Rectors of the various Polytechnics received between 23,000 and 35,000, their basic salaries are below 2,900.
