Standard Chartered Bank PLC has appointed Diana Layfield, currently Group Head, Strategy and Corporate Development, as CEO, Africa.
Diana has previously held senior management roles in the Bank as Chief Operating Officer (COO) for Wholesale Banking and as Group Head, Global Corporates.
Diana’s broad banking expertise, knowledge of Africa and extensive experience in developing and executing strategy, will be critical in taking the Africa business to the next level.
Meanwhile, Mike Hart, currently CEO, Africa, will become Vice Chairman, Africa Governance. After 23 years of dedicated service, Mike is now stepping down from his executive responsibilities but will remain close to the Bank’s business in Africa.
He will continue to play an important role in driving good corporate governance among the various Africa Boards. As CEO, Africa since 2006, Mike has built the Bank’s business and brand as the leading international Bank on the continent.
He has also held numerous senior positions in the Bank and has been a well respected colleague to a great many people, especially in Africa where he is deeply admired. Both appointments are effective from 22 June, 2011.
