The Bosomtwe Rural Bank has been paid an insurance claim of GH¢55,214.59 by the State Insurance Company (SIC) for the robbery of its Ahenema-Kokoben Agency.

Armed robbers raided the Agency in November last year, and fled with cash of GH¢76,905.10.

Mr. Philip Bondah, the Board Chairman, announced the receipt of the claim to the shareholders at their 23rd annual general meeting held at Kuntanase on Thursday.

He gave the assurance that adequate security measures had been put in place to prevent any such robbery incident in the future.

He spoke about the re-introduction of the bank’s micro-finance scheme to help fight poverty and boost the economies of communities where they were operating.

Mr Bondah informed the meeting that the bank’s Atwima-Amanfrom Agency would be relocated to Edwinase after completion of an ultra-modern office building now under construction.

Mr. Kwadwo Aye Kusi, Managing Director of the ARB Apex Bank, urged the strengthening of internal control mechanism and adoption of best practices to keep rural banks on the path of sustainable growth.

Nana Owusu Sarfo Anwona II, a Consultant in Rural Banking, advised the shareholders to take the trouble to educate themselves on the “Companies Code” to make sure that things were done rightly.

Barima Offe Akwasi Okogyeasuo, Omanhene of Kokofu, asked the bank to intensify its savings mobilization and ensure good customer care to attract more clients.

Nana Dr. Akowua Boamah, President of the Ashanti Chapter of the Association of Rural Banks, reminded the shareholders to increase their share holdings.
