The Ghana Association of Industries (AGI) on Wednesday urged government to emulate the on-going International Forum for Investments in Côte d'Ivoire (ICI) 2014, which had attracted over 3,000 investors across the globe to Abidjan.
Mr J. Asare-Adjei, AGI President said the ICI 2014 was a strategic move that sought to showcase Cote d’Ivoire to a certain caliber of investors from the international community.
He said government through the public private partnership should also organise a similar thing in Ghana, but local investors and entrepreneurs must be allowed to participate fully in such a forum and exhibition.
Mr Asare-Adjei made the remark in an interview with the Ghana News Agency by courtesy of the Ghana Export Promotion Authority on the sidelines of the ongoing International Forum for Investments in Côte d'Ivoire 2014.
He urged government to identify certain key areas of the economy and invest more in them to speed up national development.
He said ICI 2014 had given more hope to the West Africa sub-regional integration, declaring that Cote d’Ivoire just emerged from a conflict and by the exhibition it was telling the world that the country was back on track.
He said the economic policies of the two countries were similar and therefore, they could learn from each other. The AGI President noted that "we need to look at cross country investment too".
