Vodafone maintain MNP lead with 43 per cent Information reaching Adom News indicate Vodafone Ghana still has more numbers porting its way than to any other network, but their lead has reduced marginally from 50 per cent on July 25, 2011 to 43 per cent as at August 14, 2011.

Head of Corporate Communications at Vodafone Ghana, Carmen Bruce-Annan said some people have ported out of Vodafone, but it did not change the fact that company had 43 per cent of the total number of ported numbers as at August 14, 2011. She attributed Vodafones MNP success to what she called the best welcoming package on the market so far. She noted that Vodafones Double Bonus offer which gave all new customers double bonus on every recharge within their first 90 days on Vodafone, was by far the most attractive welcoming package on the market.

The bonus credit is valid for seven days, which beats the maximum of three days expiry date that other networks put on bonus credit and bonus on Vodafone can also be used for call to all networks, international calls to all destinations, text messaging and for browsing, she said.

She noted that other network limit the use of bonus credit to only calls within their respective networks and also limit the number countries their customers could use their bonus credit to call, adding that even those who claim to be giving double bonus only gave it one and a month for three months.

Carmen Bruce-Annan said customers who wish to continue enjoying double bonus could subscribe to the Double Value offer by dialing 5050 after their first 90 days and pay only GHC1.99 a month so they could get double bonus on every credit plus 50 free text messages within 30 days.

We have been pushing the message the Vodafone is partly owned by Ghanaians so Ghanaians should be able to get the best value for their cedi on Vodafone our mantra power to you is not just a slogan but the customers reality, she said. She noted that Vodafone new Corporate Social Responsibility project, Vodafone Healthline is also resonating very well with the public because of its relevance to the health and economic needs of several Ghanaian, and that was also factor for the confidence Ghanaians have shown in Vodafone.

Carmen Bruce-Annan said independent research had shown Vodafone had the best network quality, adding that it was not common knowledge that Vodafone was the fifth largest brand in the world and the number telecom brand in the world so people are realizing the need to associate themselves with that brand.

She said Vodafone was the first to stop talking about the internet in technical terms and made it simpler for people to understand the internet by offering packages like streamer, downloader and browser, which people are comfortable with and want to relate to.

Carmen Bruce-Annan however pointed out that MNP was here for a long haul and that required that networks sustained network quality and also sustain the value offering.

It is not going to be a sprint forever if you do not put in the measures to sustain the network quality and value offering it would be stupid on our part to suspend or slack on the winning formula because our customers are wise and are always bargaining for the best value, she said.

She said noted that with time MNP would become business as usual but Vodafone would keep improving network quality, and expanding to reach people where they are in order to sustain the lead in MNP gains.
