Telecoms firm Airtel Ghana together with Unibank Ghana and Star Micro Insurance are to start offering life insurance for free (no premiums paid) for users of the mobile network.
This is an additional benefit to subscribers who use Airtels mobile commerce product, Airtel Money, said the mobile operator in a statement March 13, 2012.
According to the statement, Airtel Money users and their next of kin are covered by the insurance package when they keep an average minimum balance of GH5 at the end of every month.
The Director of Mobile Commerce at Airtel Ghana, Kola Sonola is quoted as saying Airtel hopes that the introduction of the insurance policy, adds up to the other numerous advantages Airtel Money offers to users.
