Some cement distributors are blaming the current cement shortage on the closure of Diamond Cement Manufacturing Company which is based in Aflao in the Volta region.
The situation has led to a higher demand for the product and price increase to twenty cedis per bag.
Speaking in an interview with XYZ BUSINESS, a major distributor in the Bono Ahafo region, Owusu Boateng who also supplies to the Northern part of the country said Diamond Cement has stopped operations for the past one month.
He added that GHACEM’s operations are now under pressure as it takes between three to four weeks before receiving cement paid for. Mr. Boateng added that the current predicament is not deliberate and asked consumers to bear with the situation.
