The Energy Commission will on Wednesday launch an initiative that will provide new refrigerators to consumers who will return their old appliances.
In this regard the commission will be engaging the services of some dealers in electrical appliances to promote the use of ozone friendly refrigerators ahead of the January 2013 ban.
Public Relations Officer of the Energy Commission, Victor Owusu, told Gold Business Report, the move is to encourage people to buy new refrigerators by discarding the old ones.
Mr. Victor Owusu emphasized the need for functional refrigerators to be exchanged for new ones indicating that there will be a designated body and sellers of refrigerators to undertake the initiative in due time.
He urged consumers to buy star rated refrigerators noting that, the more the stars the more efficient the appliance.
