Vice President Paa Kwesi Amissah-Arthur has hinted that the government has outlined a number of incentives in this year's budget to enable the private sector to create more jobs.
He acknowledged that though the economy has grown appreciably, it has not yet been translated into appreciable levels of employment for the youth.
Vice President Amissah-Arthur said this when a delegation from Standard Chartered Bank, led by its Chief Executive in charge of Africa, Diana Layfield, paid a courtesy call on him at the Flagstaff House in Accra.
He said access to and cost of credit are serious challenges confronting small and medium scale enterprises.
He therefore tasked the bank to play a lead role in supporting Ghanaian small and medium enterprises to grow.
Madam Layfield reaffirmed Standard Chartered Bank's confidence in Ghana's economy.
She said as a result, the bank will be holding its annual business strategy conference in Accra in June.
