Officials Of Moneygram have cut the sod for commencement of work on a borehole for the people of Somanya Abokabi.
The project forms part of MoneyGram�s corporate social responsibility.
MoneyGram is a leading money transfer organization in the world, with over a 1,000 locations in Ghana.
Ms. Sabine Bauchau, Marketing Director �Africa , MoneyGram International, performed the sod cutting ceremony.
Hitherto, the community had to rely on a brook for potable water, and faced severe water challenges during the dry season. In remarks to the community, Ms. Bauchau noted that this support was extended after the problem was highlighted.
She noted this will be the third water project the company had undertaken, after sinking boreholes for the community of Asuboi in the Ashanti Region and for the Wa School for the blind. The project is scheduled for commissioning in August 2013.
