Manchester United are ready to test Juventus' resolve with an opening bid for midfielder Arturo Vidal.
Sportsmail revealed in June that Vidal had emerged as new manager Louis van Gaal's principal midfield target after securing Ander Herrera in a Ł28.4million deal from Athletic Bilbao.
United are yet to make formal contact with Juventus but are understood to have made tentative enquiries to establish whether the Chilean, who so impressed at the World Cup, would be open to a move.
