A 24-year-old fisherman is in the grips of the Teshie Police Command for allegedly attempting to rob a hairdressing salon.
The suspect, Emmanuel Darko, entered the saloon at a time the proprietress was relaxing some few metres away and was in the process of opening the cash drawer when his operation went bad, ending in his arrest.
Briefing The Finder on the incident, Teshie District Police Commander, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Simon Agbodeka stated that Emmanuel, who was on operation with an accomplice (who is on the run), were spotted spying through the glass doors of the saloon.
According to him, the proprietress stated that when she spotted the two men spying she became suspicious, so she got up to see what was happening.
But before she could get closer, Emmanuel quickly entered the shop.
When she got to the salon, the accomplice took to his heels but she was able to lock Emmanuel in the shop and raised an alarm for people to come to her assistance.
DSP Agbodeka stated that Emmanuel was then brought to the police station. In Emmanuel’s caution statement he admitted the offence of trying to rob the saloon but denied having an accomplice.
Emmanuel has been charged with the offence and will be put before court.
