Professor Nicholas Nana Nsowah-Nuamah, Rector of the Kumasi Polytechnic, has warned Polytechnic students against cheating and other forms of examination malpractices.
He said the tertiary institution would not compromise on its academic standards and would not hesitate to dismiss any student found to be cutting corners by indulging in examination malpractice.
Already, 16 students who were caught in examination malpractices during the second semester examinations of the 2012/2013 academic year, had been dismissed.
Professor Nsowah-Nuamah gave the warning at the 21st matriculation ceremony held at the school�s campus on Friday.
Four thousand five hundred (4,500) applicants out of a total of 7000 were admitted to pursue various programmes in the Higher National Diploma (HND), Bachelor of Technology degree and Diploma in Business Studies. They were made up of 2,972 males and 1,528 females.
The Rector advised the students to take their academic work seriously and desist from any act that could jeopardise their academic aspirations.
He also urged them to abide by the institution�s rules and regulations and be disciplined enough to desist from vices such as alcohol abuse, sexual promiscuity, stealing, fighting, indecent dressing and other acts, which might find them in trouble with school authorities.
