The Bureau of National Investigations will be heavily involved in supervising the resit of the cancelled Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) which starts on Monday June 29, 2015.

The students will write English Language 2, Integrated Science 2 and Religious & Moral Education 2 and on Tuesday June 30, 2015, the Social Studies 1&2 and Mathematics 2 papers will be written.

The West Africa Examination Council (WAEC) canceled some papers after detecting that some the questions had leaked and gone viral on social media.

Addressing a gathering at a ceremony in Accra over the weekend the Deputy Minister of Education in charge of Tertiary Education, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa said, “the National Security and for that matter the BNI investigation we authorized continues. So far significant arrests have been made and the National Security is beginning to have an idea of where the compromises came from. Most importantly, I want to assure the nation that in preparation of the re-run papers the National Security will collaborate with WAEC to administer the exams.”

The Ministry of Education has also hinted that the Bureau of National Investigation (BNI) has made significant arrests of culprits of the recent BECE, leakage.

The Ministry of Education directed the country’s security agencies to investigate circumstances surrounding the leaking of five Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) papers which led to their cancellation.

Updating the public on the recent development, Mr Okudzeto Ablakwa indicated that the BNI in collaboration with West African Examination Council will administer the re-run of the cancelled paper on today and Tuesday.

“They dominated the entire chain of the West African Examination Council, from the selection of questions, to the printing and to the distribution of the various centers across the nation. The National Security will continue to check where all the exams will be administered across the country.”
