Deputy Director of Microfinance and Small Loans Centre (MASLOC), Maame Afia Akoto, cannot fathom why members of the Minority in Parliament are doing everything possible to tarnish Presidents Akufo-Addo’s dream towards free Senior High School [SHS] education.
According to her, the National Democratic Congress [NDC] since the launch of free SHS have had nothing positive to say about the policy, even including the Ex-President, John Dramani Mahama.
“All comments from their [NDC] camp in relation to the policy are nothing to write home about. Indeed, why is their wish so strong to collapse the policy? … They should be bold and tell us what is haunting them per this approach. Is it that they never believed we could implement it?” she rhetorically quizzed.
She was contributing to discussions on remarks made by the former president at NDC’s Unity Walk held in Tarkwa over the weekend on Kasapa fm’s Morning Show.
The Former President took a swipe at President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo for rushing to implement the free Senior High School (SHS) policy, hinting of a possible reversal of the programme by a future National Democratic Congress (NDC) government since it is not mandatory.
“Why should the government introduce free education now when the Constitution says it should be done progressively? In fact, it is not by force to introduce free SHS now,” Mr John Mahama underscored.
The former president predicted that the challenges associated with the free Senior High School (SHS) policy would not cease unless there was a comprehensive funding strategy.
But the MASLOC Deputy Director argues that “the only truth to free SHS existence is for Ghanaians to keep the NDC in opposition for long, since they have no good conscience towards its success.”

Stu - pid* question". Who wishes that the Free SHS scheme collapses. You are entangled by your own unguarded promises and political populism just to impress the people knowing very well the success of the scheme was not attainable very soon in the light of the current economic situation.
I want to know the definition of right time by ALIMA. Was it wrong time when JM enjoyed free education some 30 years ago? Why opposition is bent to see this laudable policy fail? Are their relatives not benefiting from it too? Believe me NDC, with this kind of thinking what would you do or campaign on if the policy succeeds? Of course being neither NDC nor NPP sympathizer, I will vote NDC out as long as they intend to abolish this policy and people with my thinking would do same!
mahama enjoyed free SECONDARY SCHOOL.because he is soo evil and self centered,he wishes no one should enjoy what he did over thirty years ago.he will never taste power again.he can walk across the country like KAKDEE but it wll never help him.beause rawlings and Ahois will make sure of that.none sense!
NOBODY WISH BAD FOR FREE SHS BUT IT HAS COME AT THE WRONG TIME FOR POLITICAL GAIN THAT IS ALL! NANA KNOWS VERY WELL HE IS SERVING ONE TERM SO HE RASH TO MAKE NAME B4 HANDING OVER EVEN IF THE TIME IS WRONG FOR THE POLICY ***barred word*** PRESIDENT.
Infact they are still confused and cannot believe that they have lost the elections. Whoever wants to jeopardise this free SHS, fire will burn them.
very very simple, they said free SHS is not possible. Nana Akufo-Addo has proof them wrong. This is paining Mahama and the entire NDC, so they will always pray for the downfall of the free SHS. hey they can talk and talk, fight and fight, pray and pray, free SHS will not collapse. because the battle is the LORD. Nana continue with ur good work. God bless you
