The Minister of Information, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah has revealed that the President is in talks with stakeholders on reopening schools soon.
He made this revelation in an Instagram live Q&A session with Ghanaians today. “The gov’t is looking at reopening schools. The President is engaging with stakeholders to know the way forward.”
According to him the government will be considering regular testing on kids when schools resume and will also have to make sure every student is equipped with face masks before reporting to school.
The Minister acknowledged that the decison and measures are a bit complicated and assured the Ghanaian populace that, “the Presidnet will update us soon on the matter.”
Ghana on Monday, March 16, 2020 closed all schools, universities and suspended public events to stop the spread of coronavirus as a string of African nations imposed tighter restrictions to stem the spread of the global pandemic.
President Nana Akufo-Addo announced in an address to the nation that the authorities were shutting schools and universities “until further notice”.
Public gatherings, including conferences, religious services, sports matches and political rallies have also been suspended.

It is now very clear this government doesn't care a hoot about Ghanaians. Throughout its handling of COVID 19, they have proven that they are very empty. From how the quickly lifted the lockdown, to falsifying information on COVID, to flip flopping by Nsiah Asare, to confusion between ministry of tourism and tourist board to allowing EC to conduct workshop to now trying to reopening schools, everything shows a government without plans. Even the developed world had not started retruning to school so why would you do that do that. Everything they have done so far have confirmed what Asiedu Nkestia prophesied. It's all about opening to door for EC to starts it's new registration. Unfortunately, there seem to be no more wise men in Ghana who can speak any longer. If John Mahama's government had been doing this, all hell would had broken loose. But God is alive, he proposes and man disposes. We live to see.
most ***barred word*** and wicked decision ever
I thought the narrative and posture of the government from the beginning of the covid was " we can bring back the economy if we loose it but we can not bring back lives if we loose them "" . When did this change ? Because of your small campaign you want to do ? Then you will soon open churches so you get sympathy to carry out rigorous campaigns across the country and damn the consequence . Oh God !!!
So Kwadwo you ppl want to win power at allllll cost right. Will the school children die if they don't go to school ? Please remember this ; it is God who loved and brought Nana Addo --- He is the same God who will maintain Nana Addo. Why the the mampam rush ? Please don't fear if you have God in your boat .
Mr Kojo Nkrumah I am not sure your children, nephews and nieces attend public primary schools which have overpopulated classrooms. You guys are prepared to sacrifice our children to enable your party secure it's political power. We wait to see. If anything is to happen to my child, hmmmm.
