The Ghana Education Service (GES) has released the list of postings of about 18,000 newly trained teachers.

Out of the figure, 16,500 are teacher trainees who completed the colleges of education in 2019, while the remaining 1,500 are those who completed in 2017 and 2018 and were also considered in the mop-up exercise.

A statement signed and issued by the Deputy Director-General of the GES for Management Services, Mr Anthony Boateng, explained that the appointment letters for the shortlisted applicants had been released.

Category of applicants

“Management of the Ghana Education Service (GES) announces for the information of the general public, particularly those who completed and passed the college of education examination in 2019 and those of 2017 and 2018, considered under the mop-up exercise.

“Those who passed the teacher licensure exam, completed the mandatory national service and applied for recruitment into the service on the GES portal are also to note that the appointment letters for shortlisted applicants have been released,” the statement said.

It explained that the appointment letters could be accessed on www.gespromotions.gov.gh at a cost of GH¢10.

The statement explained that the appointees were to report to the regional directors of education with their appointment letters, certificates and other documents for further directives before reporting to the school.

“Teachers have been deployed directly to fill existing vacancies in schools,” the statement said, and gave the breakdown as 12.5 per cent going to the Northern Region, 10 per cent to Western, 8.8 per cent heading for Upper East, while 8.5 have been posted to the Upper West Region.

The Western North and the Ashanti regions each received 8.3 and 8.2 per cent respectively of the total number of the newly posted teachers, while the North East, Savannah and Oti regions received 7.4, 5.8 and 5.1 per cent respectively.
