Bono East: Ateco Matriculates 500 Fresh Students.

The Atebubu College of Education, (Ateco) on Saturday, 28, 2021 matriculated a total of 500 registered students at the college auditorium.

The ceremony, held at the College auditorium, provided the opportunity for the fresh students to pledge their allegiance to the authority of the college through the administration of the matriculation oath.

They are also expected to sign a bond of good behavior and to subject themselves to the authorities in the College.

The Principal of the College, Dr. Samuel Addae-Boateng reiterated Ateco's commitment to building and sustaining a global centre of excellence for teacher education in the country.

According to the Principal, this academic year, the College received applications for admission from over three thousand (3,000) applicants. Out of this total number, a total of five hundred (500) who were offered admissions have reported.

He said out of the total number of fresh students, forty-five (45%) are male while fifty-five (55%) are female. Thus, as a result of the introduction of a new programme in Early Grade/Childhood Education this academic year, more females were admitted than males

Again he explained that with the registration of five hundred (500) new students this year, the College's total student population is now One thousand, two hundred and eighty (1,280); with six hundred and fifty-four males and six hundred and twenty-six females. This gives us an overall Male/Female ratio of 51%:49%.

This new ratio has improved significantly, our Male /Female ratio, which used to be averagely 55% Male to 45% Female. It is our hope that, in the years to follow, we would further be able to improve upon this ratio to achieve the 50:50 gender parity rate that the college has always yearned to have; the principal noted.

Dr.Samuel Addae-Boateng encouraged the matriculants to strive for excellence in all their endeavors. “It is imperative to participate in other extracurricular activities so as to make you a balanced and well-rounded person with rich experiences. Be that as it may, your primary goal here is to study, you would have to strike a fine balance between your academic, extra-curricular and social life. You should allocate a fair amount of time to be spent on studies, social engagements and rest.

He once again admonished the matriculants to study the laws of College carefully to ensure that they are well informed on issues pertaining to the college and more importantly make their stay in the college fruitful. He entreated them to work hard and uphold the good name of the college at all times.

“As students, we expect you to utilize the various facilities and opportunities available on campus so that your stay in this college will be a blessing not only to you but also to your family and the country as a whole. It is the responsibility of all of us to help promote the image of our noble institution in a positive manner and also shape the destiny of our nation,” the Principal said.

He beseeches everyone to kindly follow the covid-19 protocols and stay safe.

According to Dr. Samuel Addae-Boateng since his assumption of office as the Principal of Atebubu College of Education, the college have, Managed to build a campus-wide broadband and Wi-Fi internet access to facilitate teaching and learning (which is about 95% complete), installed two mobile network signal boosters for voice and data, equipped all Departmental Offices with furniture, computers and other logistics, repaired and put back on raid many of the College vehicles, successfully introduced a new programme in Early Grade Education, constructed a demonstration lab, procured additional bunk beds and mattresses, etc.
