Children on admission at the Accra Childrens Hospital are likely to suffer fatal consequences due to the frequent power outages the facility experiences.
A source in the hospital told Citi News there is no power generator in the hospital to supply energy; hence nurses are forced to administer drugs to their patients in the dark.
The source explained that the entire hospital has two small rechargeable lamps which the nurses and doctors use anytime they are going on their usual rounds but even that does not ensure effective health delivery.
The frequent power outages in the country are affecting all sectors of the economy including the health sector. Citi News sources have indicated that some people especially individuals who survive on oxygen doses have died in hospitals due to the power outages and no alternative power supply.
The patients at the childrens hospital here in Accra is likely to suffer one of such losses if the power situation does not improve.
